Michael Vick

Monday, August 27th, 2007

I’m not going to get into the endless debate of how atrocious (or not) Michael Vick’s crimes were.  There is too much of that going on now and all for nothing.

I would like to state, for the record, that if you sign contracts worth hundreds of millions of dollars that have these little things called “morality clauses” in them, you are an idiot if you commit any crimes at all.  At all.

I will be so bold as to suggest that once you get to multi-millionaire status as a celebrity of any sort, you now have multi-millions of reasons to protect yourself.  Anyone that is trying to “keep it real” is stupid.  You are in unreal territory.  You need to live by the unreal rules.  Sequester yourself.  Only go to clubs that cater to other incredibly rich, incredibly famous people.  You get a driver to take you there.  And you don’t break the law.  Ever.

I don’t know what kind of sentence Vick is going to get, but if he were being charged with stupidity it would be life.

Moving Bits

Thursday, August 23rd, 2007

We are slowly but surely getting moved. This is just a quick note about infrastructure changes for those that are affected by such things.

We’ve cut off the voicemail to our home number and will be phasing it out completely soon. If you want to call us, try the cell phones, mine should even have working voicemail soon.

My comcast email account will be phased out shortly. Most of you use the gmail and/or yahoo account anyways. They all have the same username@ so just substitute the domain you want.

If you need any more contact info, click the “email me” button in the right column (towards bottom) and shoot me an email.

Hell With It

Thursday, November 3rd, 2005

Okay, okay, to hell with it. First person to e-mail me at jaslusher (at) gmail.com with their name and mailing address gets a $25 Home Despot gift card. I refuse to use it and I have gotten no takers on the money laundering scheme. I won’t ever spend it and I can’t get anything for it so I’m giving it away. First one wins.

UPDATE: The gift card has been claimed! Good riddance.

Funny

Tuesday, October 11th, 2005

Having taken two months off of work, I made myself this gigantic To Do list. When I say gigantic, I mean it. It had everything I could possibly want to do on it.

This is the beginning of my 3rd week off and I’ve done 2 of the things. Just 2. Small things, at that. To be fair I have accomplished portions of many things, but not enough that they could be labeled Done.

There were also some assumptions I was making that have turned out to be just plain wrong. One was that I would post more to the blog and the other was that I would turn out podcasts with the same speed and consistency with which the Braves fold in the postseason. Like clockwork, I’m saying. Hasn’t happened yet. We shall see if it will. I’m beginning to suspect the answer is no.

Feeling Funky

Tuesday, August 23rd, 2005

I’ve been feeling out of sorts lately. Not sick. Just not right emotionally.

I need to find my groove. I am currently just all jangly and feeling like the various parts of my life are like an ill-fitting suit. Some parts are too big, some just right and some too small. So even though parts of it are just right, overall I feel uncomfortable with it.

I’m looking to do a little tailoring.

I’m Full Of It

Sunday, February 27th, 2005

Okay, I know that most readers will not be shocked by the title of this post. Most are well aware of my status of being nearly filled to the brim with crap. But this is a particularly egregious example of my personal hypocrisy.

After making this particularly hostile statement towards upgrading Quicken, I went out and bought Quicken Deluxe 2005. That and I bought the TurboTax software for federal and state software. All by Intuit, thus making my statement of hostility towards them fairly meaningless.

But frankly, the rebates and all that you get by buying all three of them were so good I couldn’t pass it up.

Upgrading Quicken to the 2005 version was a bit of a pain as it decided that it didn’t need to convert absolutely everything over, leaving out a number of fairly important transactions and making me have to go back and figure out what was missing manually. It also looks a great deal different from the 2002 version so I’m still trying to get my head around what I’m doing with some of it.

Should Versus Want

Saturday, February 26th, 2005

Do you ever end up with two major things to do, one that you want to do and the other you should do? I do quite often. When that happens, I usually refuse to start on the want thing until the should thing is finished. Bu since I don’t want to do the should thing, it just doesn’t get done. So there I am, stuck again.

I have, however, worked out a compromise. I have begun doing things that I don’t want to do and shouldn’t be doing.
