Speechless
Tuesday, May 6th, 2008I honestly don’t know what to say about this.
I honestly don’t know what to say about this.
One of my favorite groups, Gym Class Heroes, won a VMA for Best New Artist (scroll down). It seems a little odd for them to be getting an award that has the word new in it since I first talked about them 3 1/2 years ago and they weren’t new then.
Congratulations! Now that they are certified Rock Stars, I have to vote for Travis for First To Collapse On Stage.
This just trips me out. I’m not sure why.
A taste of what the holidays are like at the Slusher house:
Except that I live about 5 miles from his home. You may or may not have heard of James’ run-ins with the law here, but let me tell you that isn’t representative of the man as a whole. He did much more good than bad.
He donated a great deal of time and money to charities in and around the CSRA. As much as you can hear his influence on music, you can see his influence on the world around him everyday here.
I’m not for minute saying that his spousal and substance abuse issues weren’t bad things. They were very bad. But I am trying to convey the fact that it is very complex. As was he.
Whether you love him or hate him, you can’t ignore him.
Goodbye, sir. You will be missed.
This is a video to the song “Makeshift Patriot” by Sage Francis:
The new Cypher:Dissident album is out! I got an email from J-High saying you can order from him via emial. If you want the info let me know and I will send it to you.
I went to another concert by The Movement last night. Man, they rock. And rap. And reggae. It was an awesome show. I wish that there had been more people in attendance to enjoy it. I think it would be generous to say that there were 25 people in the crowd. They still rocked the crowd, though. They didn’t let up a bit despite the small crowd.. I was blown away. They played many of the songs off their cd and threw in a few new ones. I was impressed with the new songs I heard. I can’t wait until they come out with their new cd.
I got a chance to talk to Jon (DJ Riggle) for a minute at the bar. I hope I didn’t embarass myself as I was about 2 and 1/4 sheeets to the wind at that point. The good thing about imbibing that much is that if I was being dorky I don’t recall it very well.
The bad part of imbibing that much is that I had to get up and go to work this morning (I worked yesterday as well). I’ve got 5 more 12 hour shifts in a row to go. I’m gonna be one tired puppy by the time next Friday rolls around.
It was worth it, though, to see that show last night. Do yourself a favor, go see them when you get a chance. It’s worth it. I guarantee it.
