Myrtle Beach

We got back from a weekend trip to Myrtle Beach, it was great. It started out as a weekend jaunt up there to see my god-daughter, Ana Taylor, in a cheerleading competition. It turned into a big family vacation. I got to see Chaun and Taylor and had breakfast with my brother on the way out of town. Of course, the time spent with each of them could have been 10 times longer and I would still have wished for a bit more. But seeing them some is better than not seeing them at all.

My next podcast (which I’ve been far too lax in putting out) will give all the details of my ineptitude in figuring out Myrtle Beach geography.

I would say that it’s good to be home, but really it’s not. I could have stayed for a few more weeks. That, and Marilyn had to turn right around and head to Atlanta tonight. I start my “hell week” at work tomorrow, so the kids are staying with her folks. Here I am all alone in this house and it already sucks.

C’mon Tuesday night.

In 1953 my mother took me and my sisters back to Scotland for a visit with her parents. The first letter from my father she received in Scotland said, “Here I am all alone….” In those days, nobody (especially Catholics) used … perhaps even knew … the word ’suck’. Thank you for reminding me that a good Dad is a good Dad forever.

Is there a way to do a remote podcast? Maybe you could take us on some of these trips with you.

To everyone, never underestimate the power of a few minutes in a child’s life. I remember Taylor was a little out of it when we saw her after the competition, but later I heard her talking to her teammates about how excited she was that her family was able to come see her.

Also, I hadn’t been to Myrtle Beach since college, and I’m kicking myself for not purchasing any property back then. The place has really grown!
