Cut out the middle man or make indie middle men. One thing I would like to see is labels that specialize in genres where I can trust that I will like most of what is offered. A problem with Magnatune is they have every type of music. You have to fish around a lot to find what you want and categories such as rock, electronic, jazz, etc.. are just not specific enough for me. That is what the major labels and stores do. You would think we could get away from that.

"If we (as podcasters, listeners and consumers) do things right over the next few years, we can create a music business that rotates around more informed axes. " and that my friend is the key.

I look forward to that day.

A boycott of the major labels is a noble thing to do and you can count me in.

I'm curious to know why the major movie studios, and television providers aren't included in this? To me they are just as evil and bland as the record companies are. Fresh ideas are what I look for in music and any entertainment and I'm not seeing that (with a few exceptions) from corporations. On the other hand, Sony does create jobs for people and is an economic benefit for Japan as is Toyota. It's great what Toyota and Honda are doing with hybrids and shame on all the people are are screwing the environment by buying those nasty 4 wheel drive cars. Some people think they are going on a lion hunting safari in suburban America.
