Well, pretty heavy show James. What a sickening week this has been. (And for me personally, a capper to a shitty summer, to boot). I don’t know that I have ever been embarrassed about America before….I honestly don’t think I have been…..but this is different.
Gosh, it seems at every level this was really screwed up. I’m not ready to take up arms and shoot people in Washington, though….and that reaction is kinda frightening. Anyway….man….what a bunch of assholes across the board. The Federal Govermnent sure seems like they screwed the pooch….but so did the state and local governments. Those are the guys that usually take charge as a first line of defense, right? But, along with the President and seemingly everyone else in the Federal Goverment, who thought we had dodged a bullet and were stupidly out doing whatever…..where was the Mayor and the Louisiana Governor? Does anyone know what the fuck happened to them? Did they just basically say, “ok….everyone please leave and if you don’t you are on your own?” And then hightail-it to Baton Rouge or something? Gosh, here was a real chance for someone at that level to step up and do something heroic? Where were they? I call bullshit on them surfacing (like on Thursday?) crying about a lack of help…..what the Hell did they do, except make sure their asses were safe? (Am I wrong about this one?….from all the coverage I’ve seen…I can’t find them anywhere helping anythying.)
And the Feds sure didn’t come in and save the day….and that is a damn fucking shame, too. I mean shit, all someone had to do was turn on CNN or Fox news on Tuesday afternoon….and they should have dropped what they were doing and come running, ya know?
I remember on Sunday hearing that they were getting the SuperDome ready to possibly house 25-30,000 people. I looked at my wife and said….jeezus that is their plan? How stupid. That is the size of a small town. They are going to put a small town in the SuperDome? With no police force or food plans. Can you imagine? And that is a plan? My God….these people were completely fucked before the first wind ever blew.
Man, I’m just trying to help and do whatever I can right now. I’m sending $$…..but I hear you….I wish there was something more I could do to help. Like be there to assist or something. Meanwhile….I got some thinking to do…This has openend my eyes to a wider set of socio-economic problems than I had hoped existed. Along with a loss of faith in our Goverment’s ability to keep us safe (I’m pissed at everyone right now….Republican’s and Democrats).
T.E. had mentioned earlier in the week about the inept levee system and what is really needed to rebuild this area….restructuring the wetlands and all that….and the more I learned and read about that, the more I was realizing, he was right. In order to rebuild this place, and for it’s people to be safe…..this has all got to change.
We’ve got a lot of odds to rise up against…somehow I hope we can do….
Son of Nun and Rev 1 are mostly too extreme for me….but they have a strong message and seem really talented, to boot. So….thanks for playing those tunes…..even if I don’t agree with everything they say, I appreciate them saying it.
Sadly,

Holland has no place they can go but we have a lot of space. We can relocate everyone to higherground. National forests can be used and convert New Orleans to a National Wetland. I’m not buying the point that it should be saved at any cost because it’s historical. History is constantly being created everywhere.
What if we spend billions rebuilding the Levees and 10 years later it happens again? I’m not clear about this but my understanding is that global warming will continue for decades even if we could stop pollution now and the polar ice caps are melting.
