Peaches
Wednesday, June 29th, 2005I love South Carolina and Georgia peaches. They taste so much better than California peaches. I’ve had some of each over the past couple of days and the Southern peaches are 100 percent better.

Work has been dragging me down and really cutting into my blogging. I’ve got one more night shift then will have a week off due to the July 4th holiday.
I will do some catching up then and put out another podcast or two.
The 6/22/05 episode of The Chair and Automan is out. Download the MP3 directly here.
In this episode:
I talk about enjoying diverse music and being the podcast behind the podcasts.

I’ve been studying the wiring diagrams for my truck and the Grand Marquis and think that I have pretty much figured out what I need to do. Of course, the actual wiring on the Mercury is much more complicated than it looks in the diagram. But the whole idea behind studying the diagrams was to get an idea of what I can simplify the wiring down to. No sense transfering a bunch of wires I don’t need.
I don’t need anything that had to do with the radio, heater, power windows or doors, interior lights, or exterior lights. Which accounts for a bunch of wires in and of themselves. Paring that down will make my life much easier.
I can’t wait to get back to work on this truck so that I can have that darn Merc out of my driveway. It’s just not the most attractive thing having 2 partially disassembled vehicles sitting in the driveway.
Everybody knows that daytime TV sucks. I knew it long ago and my recent time spent watching it has only reinforced that opinion.
The special effects on those Superman movies really suck. And the make-up on the old Star Trek shows is pitiful. The scariest thing about it is that there is a contingent of people that wish it had never changed.
Law and Order is on ALL DAY.
News has devolved into a bunch of a-holes spouting their a-holish opinions about missing white kids and present Democrats.
The word “reality” has no business in a sentence about a TV show. Nothing on TV is real. Not even the aforementioned news. Especially not on FOX.
I love the way TV has begun a recycling campaign of its own. Take has-beens and put them into psychotically weird situations and film it. Woohoo, let the fun commence. Let’s make it 17 minutes of fame, by any means necessary.
After seeing all these shows lamenting the fall of many child stars, I look at the adult versions of them and think that it’s probably a good thing. Most of these “former child stars” are as intriguing and charismatic as the sand that gets swept out of my foyer. And as plentiful, too. And thanks to FOX, they come back about as often.
Kirstie Ally is everywhere. Read that sentence again, it’s a double entendre.
I work for the company and I find those Bridgestone commercials completely embarassing. Those are really good tires, let’s show that by having half naked people do back flips and the tango. Good idea.
Oooh, I gotta go. Law and Order is coming back on.
My back is still pretty bad, but better than it was. I went to the chiropractor yesterday and he helped quite a bit and I have a follow up tomorrow. I was told to spend as little time as possible sitting which has kind of prohibited me from spending much computer time. It has put a dampener on the truck progress, too. I’m going to spend today studying the wiring diagrams of the F100 and the Grand Marquis and I will plan out where my splices and whatnot are going to be. I can’t do much of the actual work right now, but I can plan it out which should make it go fairly quickly once I can.

To all the other daddys out there: Happy Father’s Day.
I hope you are as blessed in your fatherhood as I am in mine.
I may or may not have mentioned that I have the engine out of the F100. As of today, I also have the engine out of the Grand Marquis. Tomorrow’s Father’s Day present will be a trip to Autozone for miscellaneous parts for the engine.
I must give the majority of the credit to my Father-in-law, William Dunbar. He did the lion’s share of the work as my back is out. Robert Lee (Marilyn’s cousin) also had a great deal to do with it. Without their help, it wouldn’t be out. If I had attempted to do it myself, Marilyn would probably be writing my eulogy on here.
So the next step in the proceedings is changing out all the routinely maintained parts on the EFI engine such as spark plugs and wires. I will also put new valve cover and oil pan gaskets on it to stop any oil leaks.
After that, I have to take the old wiring (including the computer) out of the Mercury and figure out where I want to mount the various electronics on the F100. Luckily there is tons of space in the engine bay to place such things.
Then I simply have to get the fuel delivery system straightened out and she is ready to rock. I need to have that ready to go by next Wednesday or Thursday so that I can get Daddy to come back and help me drop the old fuel tank and mount the new one. That should be doable if I can get my back into some decent shape over the next few days.
So I’m feeling good about it and am excited to be well on my way. Wish me MORE luck.
I promised a new podcast this weekend and I may end up having to renege on that promise. I spent a good part of today trying to get one out but hated everything I did. I reckon that if I’m not feeling it, it’s best just to leave it alone for a minute and go back to it later.
My posts and podcasts have both become very sporadic, but life has been conspiring against me as of late. Some air of normalcy will hopefully return soon.
