I’m Learning to Hate Suncom/ATT

I have had it up to the proverbial here with Suncom/ATT Wireless service. They have horrible plans, overcharge me, have the absolute worst customer service I could imagine and the coverage ain’t all that hot either.

All this started when I realized my wife and I were paying $110 a month to talk for a combined 120-240 minutes. That means we were paying between $.45 and $.90 a minute to talk and most of that was to each other. If I had realized it sooner, I would have made her talk dirty just so I felt like I was getting my moneys worth out of it.

Secondly, we both hated our phones. Mine was a too bulky Nokia and hers was a hard-to-navigate-through Ericsson (I don’t include a link here because the Ericsson website is equally difficult to navigate). So when we decided we both wanted flip phones, we called Suncom customer service and ended up buying 2 new flip phones and asking for our plan to got to a cheaper one. We had actually been on 2 different plans and wanted to consolidate both numbers onto one cheaper one.

To make a long story short, it took months to get the phones in working order and get the rate plan reduced, even though I was told neither would be a problem. I made over a dozen calls to Suncom/Att customer service over this time and never got any real help until I got really ugly. Once I got ugly things happened quickly. Which made me even madder, because this means they could have just done what I wanted without me getting nasty with them. Though now I am on a cheaper plan, they continuously try to gouge me, including charging me roaming charges in some places in my own home that switch from Suncom to a partner carrier at random.

I can’t wait to get away from these leeches. When I do finally get out of my indentured servitude to them, I will never be an ATT customer of any sort ever again.
